Dropkick Murphys

We could think of no better way to celebrate St. Patty’s Day than with an exlcusive batch of Dropkick Murpheys photos from recent performance at The Electric Factory in Philadelphia with Bryan McPherson and Old Man Markley. With a sound and live experience that has become the definitive American Celtic punk sound, Quincy MA’s Dropkick Murpheys are celebrating 8th studio album, Signed and Sealed in Blood, which hit streets in January via the band’s own Born & Bred Records.

Ultimate Guitar hailed the band for a, “..fusion of Celtic and punk is unmatched in the musical world today, mixing guitars, mandolins, bagpipes, accordions, tin whistles, and more, each with a central role at one point or the other. This, their eighth studio album entitled “Signed And Sealed In Blood” continues this fusion. Rich in sing-alongs, storytelling, and upbeat, happy feelings nearly everywhere..”

With no shortage of fan support, Dropkick Murpheys kicked off a two-night stint at one of Philadelphia’s largest club venues with Bryan McPherson and Old Man Markley putting in solid opening performances.

Dropkick Murpheys are having quite the week- Friday’s performance at TD Garden in Boston being the band’s biggest heaadlining date punctuating a 15+ year career. The Boston Herald described the show, “Like their Fenway festival, the band turned the venue into a Celtic celebration of epic proportions. There was a main stage (Black 47, Mahones, Old Man Markley) and a concourse side stage (Old Brigade, Brian McPherson, Sun Cooked). An army of bagpipers opened the show. Local step dancers, including Casey’s daughter, joined the band for a couple of new songs.”

Via Twitter today, the band posted a photo of themselves handing over a $50,000.00 check through their own Claddagh Fund charity to Cristo Rey Boston High School to support their ongoing efforts to serving low income youth in Boston.

Happy St. Patricks Day indeed!
